MSME Registration

Manufacturing and service enterprises with up to a certain level of investment and up to a certain turnover can apply for MSME registration under the MSME Development Act of 2006. MSME stands for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises. With this registration, your business can avail of the many government schemes and subsidies that are exclusive to small businesses. For example, you can get cheaper bank loans.

In addition to meeting the MSME classification criteria, you must own a proprietorship firm, LLP, partnership firm, Private Limited Company, or Public Limited Company.

Micro

Investment < Rs. 1 Crore and Annual Turnover < Rs. 5 Crore

Small

Investment < Rs. 10 Crore and Annual Turnover < Rs. 50 Crore

Medium

Investment < Rs. 50 Crore and Annual Turnover < Rs. 250 Crore

Udhyog Aadhar Registration

The Udhyog Aadhar Registration replaces the above discussed MSME registration under the MSMED Act of 2006. It a simplified and quicker process for MSME registration. You are essentially self-declaring and self-certifying your business as MSME by filling in a single form, the Udhyog Aadhar Memorandum (UAM). There is no need for any supporting documentation.

However, note that, at a later date, any central or state authority can ask for specific documentation as proof of information provided in the UAM form.
